How can a hunter be a conservationist? This talk by Dr Karen Jones (senior
.
lecturer in American and Environmental History, University of Kent) takes
a tour of the game trails of Africa and North America in the late 1800s to
show just how. Walking with a number of leading sport hunters (including
Quex’s own Major Powell-Cotton and President Theodore Roosevelt), we
will see how the pursuit of game animals demonstrated an appreciation of
nature, the science of natural history and an interest in wildlife protection.
7.30pm. Price: £4.
