This feels a bit strange, I’ve never written a February welcome letter
before. We’ve been a bimonthly magazine for over three years, so I’m
used to writing for Jan/Feb combined, and it’s always about the New
Year and losing weight and all that wintery, lose-y weight-y type business.
For many of us, the fastest way to our hearts is through our bellies - forget
romance, we’re talkin’ food! If you enjoy a bit of cooking, try your hand at
a delicious recipe from one of Kent’s top chefs; or if you’d rather have a
meal out, try out one of our top restaurant picks for February, including
Chives on the Green (p70), Indian Essence (p68), Uskudar (p73) and The
Compasses Inn (p81).
This is our very first dedicated-to-February issue, so rather than talk
about health and cold weather, let’s talk about cake and Cupid and
warm, fuzzy romance (if there is such a thing as warm, fuzzy romance).
We’re hoping it won’t be too long until we see signs of spring, but until the
daffodils and crocuses start showing their faces, have a look at our
fireplaces feature on page 122 to help you stay warm, or drift away to the
sunny shores of Crete or the Caribbean and read about our top
sun-soaked spas abroad (p119).
This issue is all about our cover’s headline: Love is in the Air. Browse
