EDUCATION IN ASSOCIATION WITH GREAT the foundation stones to educational success The GREAT programme (which stands for Gifted, Really Enthusiastic, Able and Talented) offered by the unrestricted curriculum structure at the nursery, infant and junior school at Kent College is key to early success. Setting in core subjects is designed to accelerate progress and gives children the option to develop particular skills, be they academic, art, drama, music or sport. All children are on individualised programmes to maximise their academic potential and are set for English and Maths according to their needs and talents rather than their chronological age. Parents can also choose for their child to enjoy more focus in a particular area: academic challenge; Kent Test preparation; art; design technology; drama; music or sport. Students do not have to sit the Kent Test, however, those who do enjoy excellent results. Scholarships to senior school are targeted and in recent years there has been a success rate of over 50%. Whilst the school day finishes at 4pm there is a full range of after school clubs and activities, which all the children can enjoy until 6pm each evening. There are also holiday activity weeks meaning the school is open for at least 47 weeks a year. Boarding places are available on a full, weekly or occasional basis and accompanied travel home is available to London’s St Pancras station. All-in-all a win-win situation resulting in the students being wellequipped for senior school education and parents given the peace of mind enabling them to focus on their busy working lives. www.kentcollege.com Kent College Canterbury An outstanding school for boys and girls aged 3 - 18 Aspiration At Kent College we help dreams become a reality!
