The main action is a free entry three-day food fair, as the promenade and Victoria Gardens become home to over 100 food and drink stalls. There are artisan beers and ciders, Kent cheeses, organic and sourdough breads, stacks of preserves and chutneys and a host of hot food stalls. This year Andy McLeish from the Michelin-starred Chapter One restaurant will be headlining in the Kitchen Theatre on Friday 4th October and festival favourite, TV chef Dev Biswal from Margate's Michelin-listed Ambrette Restaurant, will again be demonstrating his cooking skills. Other demonstrators will include local chefs and students of East Kent College, a prime sponsor to the festival. “The fair celebrates, showcases and champions Kent’s food heritage and diversity from sea to shore, field to fork,” says festival director Jo Scott. “The event promotes Broadstairs’ and Kent’s quality food businesses and restaurants, driving the county’s reputation as a progressive and exciting food destination.” The festival also includes a number of fringe events in the days prior to the food fair, encompassing poetry, film, music and of course, food! www.broadstairsfoodfestival.org.uk KENT-BASED redurchin LAUNCHES LONDON TAXI PRINT WITH CHILDREN'S CHARITY DONATION redurchin baby and childrenswear is a well-kept secret amongst classy kids’ boutiques and websites with an eye for something new and different. But that's not all. As well as being shortlisted for the Junior Design Awards this year, redurchin launched its new London Taxi print on tops, tees and babywear, with 50p from every item sold before the end of September going to the 2013 Magical Taxi Tour. Every year the charity takes over 200 children from Great Ormond Street and other London hospitals on a three-day trip to Disneyland Paris, in a convoy of black taxis. It is a treat that will stay with them for the rest of their – sometimes short – lives. "This is an amazing charity. Everyone involved gives their time for free: cabbies, police, ambulance and medical staff. As soon as we heard about it we wanted to help," explains desig ner Beth Bourrelly. Like the rest of the redurchin collection, all items are made from supersoft organic cotton with well-made seams, a great fit and a ban on itchy labels, so kids love to wear them. www.redurchin.co.uk www.magicaltaxitour.com www.insidekentmagazine.co.uk 13
