Inns Magazine Issue 4 Vol. 19 Weddings 2015 | Page 20

Envision your arrival at a Mansion built in 1891, with a Richardsonian Romanesque style with high turrets, balconies, soaring chimney and a grand curving front porch inviting you inside to celebrate a special occasion.

In 1994, The Mansion, restored into a Victorian Era B&B, both elegant and with simplicity, opened as the Capitol Hill Mansion B&B Inn. This historic B&B has received numerous awards from Historic Associations in Denver and is recognized in major magazines, major motor clubs and inns associations.

Weddings, Elopements, Vow Renewals, Engagements, Anniversaries and Honeymoon occasions are celebrated at the Mansion. The “Green Garden” is available May through October and can accommodate 70 guests. The expansive front porch is utilized as the bar service area. Various property venues are adapted to the needs of the couple. During the winter months, two rooms, the parlor and dining room, open for the ceremony and a buffet setting for the reception. The indoor venue can accommodate 30-40 guests.

The bride and her attendants prepare for the ceremony in the enchanting “Shooting Star” room at the top of the wooden curved staircase. This room will also be the honeymoon suite. The wooden staircase with an eight-foot beveled and stained glass window is the ultimate first view of the beautiful bride on her wedding day.

Carl, the owner, assists in coordinating the event for the wedding couple. He has a listing of vendors and officiates who can prepare for any occasion the couple desires on this memorable day. He works with partnerships in the community on linens, lighting, photography, food catering, and floral arrangements to the specifications of the couple. If the bride prefers, she may request to provide her own wedding planner.

Carl is flexible in accommodations for the wedding. Weddings do not require the full house rental. Wedding Packages including “Forever Yours” can be viewed on their website.

Capitol Hill Mansion consists of 8 rooms ranging from Distinctive Guestrooms, Historic Bedroom Suites, the Balcony Rooms and the Keating Floor. The suites vary in size and amenities. Fireplaces, Jacuzzi and balconies adorn various rooms. Some of the rooms accommodate more than two guests using a portable guest bed. All the rooms are named after Colorado wildflowers. A flat screen TV, AC, wireless internet, fax and copy machines and free on-site parking are benefits in this eastside downtown location.

In the morning, Carl takes great pride in preparing a complete gourmet, hot breakfast. Fresh bakery, juices, tea and coffee are arranged on a buffet table. Guests sit in the floral garden with circular tables and chairs under open canopies. This is the perfect place to prepare you for your day’s adventure. Late afternoon, a Colorado Wine Tasting is a time to socialize with other guests.

Carl also specializes in High Teas, Luncheons, Showers, Private Dining and Holiday Celebrations.

The innkeeper concierge service can arrange dining reservations and transportation in a luxury horse-drawn carriage ride to dinner.
