Owners Jeannie and David Babbitt built their their 6000 ft., log lodge-style home back in 1991 with the intention of making it into a bed and breakfast once their children left the nest. Jeannie had a love for cooking and Dave was the gardener and outdoorsman making it a perfect blend of talent to persue their dream.Jeannie studied cake making and decorating and became quite renown in her field. In 2001 they opened Horton Creek Inn B&B with seven north lodge themed-rooms all with private baths. The B&B can sleep 16 guests in total and Jeannie says, “We are in the middle of nowhere yet at the center of it all.” Located in northern Michigan just outside Charlevoix, near Boyne City and Petoskey, they are set in a 60-acre lush wooded setting that is perfect for romantic getaways and weddings.
Jeannie loves people and has made Horton Creek Inn a bridal destination due to the many options that they offer. Ever since their opening 14 years ago they have been popular for intimate weddings up to 30 people and have become specialists in small intimate ceremonies and receptions.
Due to guest demands and encouragement they wanted to bring their craft to their great outdoors. They’ve expanded their wedding menu to include a beautiful terraced area that can accommodate up to 100 guests with a platform that can be tented for a dinner and reception. The enchanting gardens are perfect to exchange vows in as guests can stand or sit overlooking the ceremony.
This past year David and son Bill completed a new wedding venue area for larger gatherings. The new area called the Pond Venue and is located on a private 10-acre part of the property that includes a stunning ½ acre pond. Adjacent to the pond there is a designated space to host ceremonies and receptions that can accommodate up to 300 of your nearest and dearest!
