Science Park concept design
International design practice Scott Brownrigg is working with universities , campus and business park operators and investment groups to develop and evolve a model for new Science Parks across the UK . Working together , we are creating new leading environmentally sustainable campus environments that provide the right ingredients to promote better research , improved innovation , greater interaction and improved campus life ; the parks will also help to stimulate greater local employment opportunities .
By working at a macro through to micro scale , and taking forward brown and green field sites , the practice has been able to deliver highly valuable consents for the science and innovation industry . Scott Brownrigg has secured in February 2016 , the complete masterplan design and delivery of 20 independent science and innovation buildings with support facilities across the new Harlow Science Park promoted by Harlow Council . The site is set in 25 acres of Enterprise Zone adjacent to Newhall as part of a successful bid supporting Vinci Developments , Discovery Park and Palmer Capital . The first buildings are to be delivered in 2017 and combine research , office , and support industry accommodation contained within contemporary and innovative building designs . Scott Brownrigg ’ s approach has helped promote the improved status of Harlow ’ s employment offer and sits alongside the innovative and successful residential development in Newhall .
Scott Brownrigg ’ s expertise ranges from providing facilities for growing new businesses who wish to collocate on university campus land , through to masterplanning and designing parks which can accommodate the largest of headquarter buildings for the science and research sector . Oxford Science Park , Milton Park , Howbery Park , Green Park , University of Reading and the University of Surrey are just some the practice is involved with . The practice is also working at Cambridge Science Park providing several office buildings that are in planning and at tender stage with a very high quality architectural response within a highly successful parkland setting .
Scott Brownrigg has designed headquarters and research buildings for Lilly , Novartis , Becton Dickinson , Johnson and Johnson , Celgene , NHS Bowl Cancer Screening Laboratories , BAE and Quintiles . Integrating , where relevant , commercial expertise with award-winning town planning and interior design teams , it is capable of taking the masterplan from planning through to the individual choice of fume cupboard or furniture to invigorate an innovative breakout space .
Its Design Research Unit has been developing a new acclaimed ‘ Flexible Laboratory Concept ’ which provides a number of design options and configurations that can easily be reconfigured to suit

the future needs of growing research units and companies . In addition , its Advanced Technologies sector is leading the way in the global demand for technology intensive buildings for lifesciences , manufacturing , data , research and energy .
As members of the UK Science Park Association , Scott Brownrigg is continuing to strengthen its skills and sector expertise in the design of science and innovation campuses , enterprise hubs and laboratories .
