MTS opens motorsport facility at Surrey Research Park
MTS has officially opened its new facility on the Surrey Research Park to address opportunities in automotive and other high-growth markets .
A global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors , MTS Systems Corporation continues to take steps to bring its engineering expertise closer to important clusters of industrial activity to better serve its customers .
The Surrey Research Park facility will focus on making advances in energy recovery technology , including the development and manufacture of nextgeneration electric power systems ( EPS ) and solutions for more efficient vehicles . Key applications for such technology include racing and other motorsports , where performance is critical , as well as mass market electric and hybrid-power automobiles and aerospace applications .

electrification expansion of premier European motorsports teams involved in competitions such as Formula 1 , the World Endurance Championships and Formula E .
The official opening of the new MTS facility was attended by representatives from McLaren Applied Technologies , rFpro , Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd , Qinetiq , Unico , the University of Surrey , the Ford
Motor Company , Jaguar Land Rover , Scuderia Toro Rosso , and Ferrari .
Prof Dr Mark Gillan , Director of Motorsport Technology at MTS , who heads up the Guildford facility , explained : “ Although we have served the UK market for many years , adding an engineering and production presence brings real value to our EPS customer base – both in the UK and across Europe .”
