Exeter lays foundations

Exeter Science Park has been laying the foundations to become the South West ’ s beacon of excellence for science and technology

Over the past six months Exeter Science Park has covered significant ground in improving the infrastructure and connectivity , securing funding and supporting the growth and development of many of wits tenants within the new Science Park Centre .

Celebrating 30 years of Cockpit Arts

Cockpit Arts , the London-based creative business incubator for craft makers , is celebrating its 30th anniversary – with supporters of British craft being invited to take part in a series of special events .

The 30th Anniversary Open Studios selling events will take place in June and November / December when the public are invited to meet nearly 200 makers past and present , at its two

In November 2015 £ 10 million of funding was secured through the Government ’ s Growth Deal 2 initiative for the delivery of three bespoke buildings , including two new grow-on buildings and a third building within the Global Environmental Futures Campus .
These buildings will provide space for private sector organisations to set up home at the Exeter Science Park , some of which are already in talks with the management team . The plots are now ready and work is expected to start in November this year , with the grow-on buildings completed in November 2018 .
Emerging from the ground is the Park ’ s newest building , set to house the Met Office ’ s £ 97 million High Performance Computer , which will be
centres in central and south London .
Visitors will be able to see behind the scenes in the studios and buy work by current master craftspeople and artistmakers as well as a select group of noted alumni .
A photographic display of Cockpit Arts makers – past and present – by photographer , Alun Callender , will be on exhibition during the Open Studios . These specially-commissioned portraits will illustrate a diversity of maker success stories , demonstrating the trailblazing nature of Cockpit Arts ’ work and the career journeys that exist for craft makers working in Britain today .
