What was the first tattoo you ever did? Can you tell us about it? It was for a friend. She wanted the cancer awareness ribbon. A tattoo that now would take me twenty minutes to do, took me three hours, and I didn’t finish it because it was too painful. I finished it later on, and I retouched it completely. I was anxious, nervous, and I wasn’t accustomed to the process, the techniques, and the machine. Tell us about your shop. I have a private studio in Portugal. It is in Mira, a small village next to the sea. It is a very cool space with all the conditions. I also have a space where I do my paintings. Describe how you go about creating a tattoo from concept to finished design. And also describe how you try to put your own unique touch on your tattoos. Since my work is based on the technique of realism, the creative process is always supported by pictures or images. However, my goal is to create and execute projects where I try to alter the image as much as I can so I don’t take the chance of having projects that are the same… Some artists just tattoo the image they research. I always try to work it, so it is totally different from the original, giving it my personal touch and graphic elements. How would you describe your style? And which tattoo styles do you like best? Realistic, with my specialty being graphic realistic. Describe how your role models and any other sources of inspiration have affected your tattoo style. 102 InkSpiredMagazine.com
