InkSpired Magazine: What are you fascinated
by at the moment and how does it feed into
your work?
Josh and I spend a lot of energy on social philosophy and community development. It’s crucial
in 2015 to have a product that doesn’t just look
fancy. It needs to give people meaning, value, and
connection. Brands in fashion are a unique combination of current and future. We are working
hard to develop pieces that are functional for our
community but also push them into trying new
and exciting styles that create conversation.
InkSpired Magazine: I see your clothing
in the EDM scene quite often, who do you
sponsor?
We put a lot of gratitude behind the growth of
the brand in that area, specifically because of
MC Dino. Before him came a lot of rejection.
He was a catalyst and had faith in us before
most. Fortunately, over time we have received
priceless support from artists all over the
world which we will remain always thankful for.
InkSpired Magazine: Why the electronic
music scene?
It might be biased of me to say this, but 13
years ago when I fell in love with this space,
it was filled with a less popular, nerdy, but
eclectic demographic....it’s a culture and
crowd that was warm, accepting, and filled
with huge positive energy. People were and
are able to express themselves and not just
with music. It’s been exciting to see the way
electronic music has been blending genres
and birthing new ones on the regular.
InkSpired Magazine: Are there other
genres of music that your brand
reaches?
Absolutely. We spent time vending on the
Warped Tour and it was well received.
It’s amazing for us to see alternative
culture and music in different spaces
begin to fuse together. We truly are all
connected.
InkSpired Magazine: How is your
work received internationally?
We are receiving love and support
from all over the world… Lately,
we see the brand growing through
Europe, Canada, Australia, and
Singapore. The challenge we are
facing is trying to build a connection
with new markets without sacrificing
attention to our already solid foundation and growing community here
on the west coast. We feel if we stay
focused, flexible and consistent the
world will embrace the fact that we
are all connected and we will gain
inclusion everywhere.
