SPOTLIGHT

Lindsay Walls-Ott '16

Lindsay is 15 years old and turns 16 in June. She is involved in dance and the speech team here at Thornton. She enjoys reading, writing, cooking and drawing. She has recently become interested in Spoken Word Poetry, but is also working on a novel.

She used to produce a newsletter every other Sunday for her neighborhood, as well.

Q: How long have you been writing? Did anything inspire you?

A: I started seriously writing in eighth grade, I have a binder from sixth grade filled with poetry (haiku, limericks, etc.), but don’t we all? I started writing as an assignment, I think. It turned into something almost like journaling, where I would be sitting in class and be typing on my laptop. I guess you could say my experiences inspired me to write, I took everything around me and put it into stanzas.

Q: Tell us about this poetry contest that you won? How did you get involved?

She likes flat Dr. Pepper.
