CPS ARTS EDUCATION PLAN
AND THE CREATIVE SCHOOLS INITIATIVE
PLAN
The CPS Arts Education Plan was formulated in 2012 with the input of numerous public and private
sector stakeholders, including CPS district leaders, principals, instructors, students, parents, and
community arts partners, as well as higher education and philanthropic leaders. Incorporating their
policy and program recommendations, the Chicago Board of Education passed a resolution adopting
the Plan in November 2012. The Plan, which is discussed in more detail at the conclusion of this
report, is structured as a series of recommendations distributed among six major goals that cover:
