VITA TAX SERVICE AT THE LIBRARY THROUGH APRIL 11
VITA volunteers will complete tax forms for low-income residents and senior citizens on Mondays , Tuesdays , and Thursdays until April 11 . All interested residents should call the library at 724.695.8150 to schedule an appointment .
Note : This service is by appointment only . NO walk-ins will be accepted . Please call early to be assured of obtaining an appointment .
A selection of state tax forms and PA rent rebate applications are available at the library . However , the IRS has limited the assortment of federal print tax forms available to libraries . Additional forms and information may be obtained from the IRS website or by calling 1.800.829.3676 . Forms may be printed from the IRS website at the library at a rate of 20 ¢ for black & white , 50 ¢ for color .
WESTERN ALLEGHENY COMMUNITY LIBRARY HOSTING GROWN-UP BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
This after-hours 21 + program for seriously cool grown-ups will be held on April 21 at 7 p . m . There are eight titles picked out in all the coolest genres . The target is book clubs , but you can also just convince your friends to join your team ! Start reading and meeting ASAP . Teams can be made up of anywhere from two to eight members . OAKDALE RESIDENTS SHOULD SIGN UP FOR SWIFTREACH EMERGENCY CONTACT SYSTEM
Oakdale maintains an emergency contact system that can be used to reach out to residents with an informational telephone message in various crisis situations , including flooding , water alerts and other threats to community safety . The system is updated when residents provide information using the emergency information sheet ( previously mailed to residents , and available on the borough website ) or by contacting the borough office with updated information . Residents are urged to submit a completed form if they have not already done so , or resubmit if your contact information has changed . The information can be submitted by printing , completing and delivering the form , which can be found on the borough website , or by clicking on the SwiftReach Portal Link and completing the online form .
In the event of a critical situation such as a boil water alert , the borough can only contact you with information / instructions if your current contact number is in the system . For questions or additional information , please call 724.693.9740 or email franchek @ oakdaleborough . com .
PARKWAY WEST CTC FISH FRY ON THE WAY
Starting in March , the Parkway West CTC will be having a weekly fish fry . The food is prepared by the culinary arts students , and is take-out only . There are two meal deals , fish or shrimp , each with mac and cheese and coleslaw sides . You can also order a la carte items including pierogies , french fries , haluski , and New England clam chowder . Baked goods will also be available . The dates and times are : March 3 , 10 , 17 , 24 and 31 , from 2 to 6 p . m . The number to place an order is 412.923.1772 , Ext . 152 .
CLEARVIEW EMPLOYEES DONATE TO LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES
In the fall , Clearview employees donated 26 complete Thanksgiving meals to local food pantries . Various Clearview branches and corporate departments each sponsored a different basket , and employees donated everything necessary for a complete Thanksgiving feast for a family of four .
Every basket included special touches such as candles , family recipes , tablecloths , festive napkins and more , in addition to Thanksgiving staples such as potatoes , stuffing , gravy , vegetables , pies , coffee and gift cards to purchase turkey and fresh ingredients . Donations were wrapped in reusable baskets and delivered to local pantries in time for the holiday .
EMMY-WINNING JAZZ ARTIST TO PLAY AT ST . JAMES CHURCH IN SEWICKLEY
MUSIC PLUS , the concert series at St . James Church , presents the Eric DeFade Quartet on Sunday , Feb . 12 , at 3 p . m ., in “ Curing Those Winter Blues .” The 50-minute concert will be bossa nova , bolero , and ballad styles .
