Congratulations to the Public Safety Building team for far exceeding the goal of hiring local contractor firms !
According to the Contract Monitoring Division , the arm of City government that tracks such things , Public Works and Charles Pankow Builders exceeded our goal for hiring small , local companies to work on the Public Safety Building , which was completed in April 2015 .
We were required to use Local Business Enterprise-certified firms for 10 percent of the contract work . But by the closeout of the project , we had involved 76 small local subcontractors , for a participation rate of 26.44 percent .
