21 DCS In the Community / September, 2016

Instilling DCS's new approach to community supervision, the One Officer - One Family - One Community philosophy, starts in basic training. Before DCS officers complete basic training and join the communities they'll work in, they forge a bond of familyhood with each other and with their public safety brethren.

By training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, DCS recruits have the opportunity to work shoulder-to-shoulder with officers and recruits coming from all corners of the state and representing a broad range of Georgia's public safety agencies. This helps conserve resources and still train with state-of-the-art tools and facilities. In addition, training together helps forge a professional community of law enforcement in Georgia that strengthens collaboration, respect, and a continuity of skills and training between agencies.
