DELINQUENT PROPERTY TAX INFORMATION

Sometimes residents of Shaler Township receive notifications for delinquent property taxes from a variety of collection agencies . Property owners should be aware that there are three taxing authorities for property tax :
• Shaler Township
• Shaler Area School District
• Allegheny County
Shaler Township submits any delinquent property tax information to Jordan Tax Service , the authorized collection agent for delinquent property tax . For example : the delinquent 2016 property tax information will be turned over to Jordan Tax Service June 1st , 2017 . The authorized collection agency for delinquent Allegheny County taxes is also Jordan Tax Service . The Shaler Area School District contracts with Pennsylvania Municipal Services ( PAMS ) for delinquent tax collection services . Often residents find themselves receiving many notifications from the above agencies . As lien fees are very expensive and often exceed the initial value of the face amount of the lien , residents are strongly encouraged to maintain up to date payments on all property tax bills for all three agencies . If you find yourself in a collection status , it is recommended that you research your payment records to determine if the collection process is warranted and accurate . Satisfactory proof of payment is a cancelled check for the amount in question .

Shaler EMS

SHALER AREA EMS AND THE BOROUGH OF ETNA
A Hearty Welcome - effective February 1 , 2017 , Shaler Area EMS welcomed the Borough of Etna in an agreement to provide first class emergency medical services to its ’ residents . The Borough of Etna sought proposals from several emergency medical providers for 2017 . Shaler Area EMS submitted a proposal for consideration and the Borough of Etna accepted the proposal based on several factors including level of service , proximity of EMS headquarters to the Borough of Etna and representation on the EMS appointed governing board .
The Township of Shaler and Shaler Area EMS are excited about this agreement and are looking forward to continuing to provide first class emergency medical services to the residents of Shaler Township and Etna Borough . Over the past several years the medical reimbursements have been drastically reduced requiring supplemental operating funding from the Township of Shaler . By expanding the service area and including Etna Borough , we are hopeful that the call volume will increase thus stabilizing billing revenue .
The governing board and management of Shaler Area EMS will monitor call volume with this new agreement and adjust manpower and staffing levels as necessary to ensure that all residents continue to receive the first-class emergency response service that they have enjoyed for over 25 years with Shaler Area EMS .
SHALER AREA EMS 2017 SUBSCRIPTION DRIVE
Shaler Area EMS developed its Annual Subscription Drive to allow Etna and Shaler residents to protect themselves from a potentially expensive ambulance bill and support their community . It works by paying a small fee to Shaler Area EMS once a year to become a subscriber . Subscribers gain unlimited protection from all costs associated with medically necessary emergency ambulance service . This means that no matter how many times you or someone in your family may need emergency service ; it will not cost you any money from your own funds . In addition , most communities in the North Hills honor your Shaler Area EMS Subscription , so that you are protected even when you are outside of Etna Borough and Shaler Township .
In addition to protecting yourself from an expensive ambulance bill , subscribing also supports a vital community resource . Shaler Area EMS needs your financial support to continue as your local ambulance service . Having a community oriented ambulance service based in Shaler has many advantages . For instance , every minute is critical in an emergency situation and having an ambulance respond from within Shaler could mean the difference between life and death . Our average response time is 8 minutes . Shaler Area EMS also delivers a number of non-emergency services to the community such as child seat safety checks , CPR classes , and support for youth athletics programs . The fees are : $ 35 for an Individual Subscription $ 50 for a Family Subscription $ 70 for a Family Plus Subscription The subscription year starts on April 1st and ends on March 31st . This year ’ s subscription information will be mailed by the first week of March .
