ROSS / WEST VIEW EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES MEMBERSHIP DRIVE SOON UNDERWAY
It is once again that time of the year for your ambulance service to reach out to the residents of our communities for support . Each year Ross / West View EMS , who proudly services the communities of Ross Township , West View Borough , Millvale Borough , Reserve Township and Ohio Township , conducts its annual membership drive .
Because of these ever-changing healthcare reimbursement formulas , we now more than ever need our residents to consider supporting our lifesaving team ! While most residents think that their local EMS system is solely provided and funded by their municipal tax dollars , nothing could be further from the truth ! So most ask , why should I become a member of Ross / West View EMS ?
Your paid subscription can save you hundreds of dollars ! With the rising costs of co-pays and high deductible insurance programs , Ross / West View EMS has been forced to change its old subscription program , which offered a “ no out-of-pocket ” additional expense with a paid subscription , to a 50 % discount on any out-of pocket expenses ( i . e . co-payments , deductibles , etc .) related to any medically necessary emergency ambulance service provided by Ross / West View EMS . In addition , subscribers also receive discounts on other types of transportation services , such as , non-emergency ambulance and wheelchair van services .
Ultimately , your subscription helps assure that Ross / West View EMS will have the funding necessary to sustain the staffing , vehicles and equipment required to provide round-the-clock emergency protection to you and your family . Did you know that only about 1 in 5 residents support their local EMS Service ? Many people often don ’ t participate in this program “ because they have healthcare insurance ” that will pay for ambulance service , which is a big misconception . Most often health insurance only covers a fraction of the charges associated with ambulance transportation , leaving you responsible for the balances of the charges .
Now that the Affordable Care Act has taken a stronghold on the Healthcare Delivery system , changing what coverages are offered , where you can receive services , ultimately driving up co-pays and deductibles , now more than ever is the time to begin supporting your EMS System .
Weekly , we receive calls from users of our service who are not members , regarding bills they receive , often wandering what they need to do to satisfy their invoice . Had they become a member at the enrollment time , these unexpected charges could have been significantly reduced or eliminated . While we do submit invoices to insurance carriers for users of our service , as a non-member , you are responsible for any and all charges not paid by your insurance carrier .
Ross / West View EMS ’ s subscription program is a tax-deductible , value driven program to give each member a financial piece of mind in the time of an emergency . This program period runs from April 1 , 2017 through March 31 , 2018 . The cost of a membership is $ 48 for an individual and $ 78 for a family .

THE ROSS TOWNSHIP VOLUNTEER FIREMEN RECRUITMENT & RETENTION COMMITTEE & DISCOUNT CLUB
Ross Township has been blessed with a 100 % volunteer fire service for many years . The desire of this committee , business owners and every tax payer is to ensure that this purely volunteer group remains intact , well trained and ready to go .
Ross Township has 8 fire companies with approximately 300 volunteers consisting of fire fighters , administrative help , fire police and junior members . Every year regulations passed down from the state make the cost and time requirements for training more demanding on new and veteran members . Each new member costs the companies upwards of $ 3,000 which is covered by various forms of income consisting of Ross Township General Fund budget contributions , federal and state grants and fund raising efforts of the fire companies .
Help us thank them for the commitment and a job well done by becoming a member of the Ross Township Volunteer Firemen Discount Club . Any discount of any amount is deeply appreciated . Any volunteer requesting a discount at your establishment must present photo ID to receive the discount . The Discount Club listing of participants will be published in our magazine quarterly and posted at each fire hall . Following are the current participants :
