In 2003, the Toronto design
agency Concrete was commissioned to create a logo
that would reflect the School of
Design’s identity and spirit of
design,a universal and flexible
word-mark that could undergo
interpretation while maintaining
its communication integrity.
The identity became an integral
part of the school’s interior
design and has served as
inspiration for student work.

Purple and orange, the
early morning street
lights reveal a silhouette.
Dressed in black, with
shirtsleeves rolled up
and a cool exterior, she
seems unapproachable,
but as she softly yawns,
smiling and waving to
a group of friends, you
realize appearances can
