Digifest 2014
Intel Family Day
celebrates the power
in all of us to create,
innovate and realize
our ideas. The showcase
featured play spaces,
workshops, exhibits
and demonstrations
by artists, inventors
and makers of many
cool things.
Closing out Digifest 2014 was the Meet the
Media Guru presentation by Massimo Banzi,
complete with models wearing dynamic clothing
powered by Banzi’s open source hardware, the
Arduino. Banzi recounted the story of Arduino’s
creation, what it means and what it can do. In
co-founding Arduino, a microcontroller board
that enables the quick prototyping of digital
electronics, Banzi entered at the ground floor
of the surging international maker movement.
Arduino allows individuals who have minimal
experience with electronics and programming
to open a box and start playing. With more than
700,000 sold since its founding in 2005, Arduino
has transformed design education.

Founded in 2005 in
Milan, Meet the Media
Guru is an ongoing
event featuring the
most eminent voices
in new media culture
and innovation.
Cat Power
Arduino is connecting cats
and tech in novel ways. Many
users online have created
laser toys for their feline
friends for pet fitness and
human entertainment. The toy
is an easy Sunday afternoon
project requiring little coding
knowledge, as plenty of
resources are available online.
