Hance Elementary Benefits from Rotarian Goodwill

The Rich-Mar Rotary surprised students at Hance Elementary School with dictionaries on Nov . 30 , 2016 . They provided each third grader with their own copy .
Rich-Mar Rotary has been donating dictionaries for about 11 years in the Pine-Richland School District . The program is part of a national and international Dictionary Project . The goal is to assist all students in becoming good writers , active readers , creating thinkers and resourceful learners . Why third grade ? Third grade is the time when many students begin to “ Read to Learn ” rather than “ Learn to Read ,” according to educators .
The project helps to build goodwill between the students and Rotary , which provides scholarships and leadership opportunities to students as well as working with the Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund .
