Pine-Richland School District Keeps Strategic Plan Active

Pine-Richland School District is being intentional about ensuring the strategic plan is an active document . The district is now in year two of the strategic plan , which focuses on six categories ; Teaching & Learning , Student Services & Learning , Finance & Operations , Workforce Development and Communication & Engagement .
The district identified six key strategic initiatives for the 2016-2017 school year including Instructional Strategies , In-Depth Program Review , Standardized Assessment / Universal Screener , Technology Integration , Evaluation & Performance-Based Feedback and Long-Range Budget & Capital Funding Plan . Wexford Elementary Unveils District ’ s First Makerspace

Wexford Elementary unveiled the first Pine-Richland School District makerspace with a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec . 8 , 2016 . A makerspace is a physical location where students can gather to create , invent , tinker , explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials . Wexford ’ s makerspace includes drawing boards , building planks as well as story , electronic and modeling kits and more . Librarian Maria McCormick received funds from multiple sources including $ 4,705 grant from the Pine-Richland Opportunities Fund . The Wexford Parent Teacher Organization provided 17 Chromebooks .

PA Department of Education Honors Richland Elementary School

The Pennsylvania Department of Education ’ s Division of Federal Programs is honoring Richland Elementary School for being named a Title I Distinguished School for 2016-2017 . This marks the fifth consecutive year that Richland Elementary School has earned this prestigious recognition .
Richland Elementary received the honor because it ranked in the top five percent of Title I Schools in Pennsylvania based on aggregate math and English language arts scores on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments ( PSSAs ). To receive this honor , schools had to show high achievement on the PSSAs , while qualifying for financial assistance through the Federal Title I program .
Principal Dr . Gene Nicastro attributes the continued success to the supportive families in the community , attentive students and a focused and determined staff who strives to meet students ’ needs .
