Township ’ s history and a visible testament to a pioneer family whose roots began in the township circa 1764 and have spanned generations .
“ The Peters Creek Historical Society welcomes the public to attend monthly meetings featuring speakers who focus on a variety of historical subjects ,” says the society ’ s publicist , Ruthann Seraly . Additionally , the doors of the Enoch Wright House are opened each December for the annual “ Soup and Stroll ” fundraiser where students , under the supervision of retired Peters Township history teacher Vaughn Dailey , act as servers and busboys for a fun community event .
Scheduled tours of the house are available upon request , and invitations for society members to speak at schools or clubs are welcome .
In addition to the “ Soup and Stroll ” fundraiser , the historical society is funded by membership dues , donations from scheduled tours or speaking engagements , and in stipends courtesy of the Giant Oaks Garden Club , whose members comprise a gardening team that plants and maintains the gardens on the Enoch Wright House property . “ The society depends on the goodwill of its members and the community at large to meet the monetary challenges known to most nonprofit organizations ,” notes Seraly .
