PTMS PRESENTS
‘THE LION KING, JR.’
Peters Township Middle School
presented five sold-out shows of “The Lion
King, Jr.” Feb. 23 through 25. The show was
directed by Lorra Brannan, who brought the
African savanna to life on the PTMS stage
with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast
of characters as they journeyed from Pride
Rock to the jungle and back again.
Following the production, the PTMS
musical cast and crew donated costume
pieces including leotards and tights to
Anno’s Africa — a United Kingdom-
based charity that coordinates educational
arts projects for children living in slum
conditions in Kenya.
The charity was set up in memory of
Anno Birkin, a young, gifted writer and
musician who died in a car crash in 2001,
one month short of his 21st birthday.
Anno’s Africa has been operating in Nairobi
since 2006 and there are currently more
than 1,200 children participating in the
organization’s workshops and weekly clubs
led by the group’s sister organization One
Fine Day. For more information, visit
