In 2016 , there were many accomplishments for Murrysville that affected the entire Municipality , including renovations to the Murrysville Community Center , Marcellus Shale Drilling Educational Sessions , and the launch of a new Murrysville Volunteer Program . Other notable accomplishments in Year 2016 include :

• “ Medals of Valor ” were bestowed on two of Murrysville ’ s finest Police Officers , Matthew Mastorovich and Brian Sadlowe , for their heroic actions during a robbery in the community .

• The hiring of Officer Nate Ferree to the Murrysville Police Department .

• Western Westmoreland County Faith in Action ( Murrysville ) and Murrysville Meals on Wheels being presented with the 2016 Community Service Award for their distinguished contribution to helping others in the community and making it possible for Seniors to live at home .

• Ben Sampson being presented the 2016 Volunteer-of-the-Year Award for his exceptional efforts in volunteering within Murrysville .

• Diane Heming being presented the 2016 Outstanding Municipal Employee Achievement Award ; Cindy Daugherty being presented the 2016 Excellence in Murrysville Municipal Employee Award both for their contribution on the Murrysville Community Center renovations , making it a great place to meet and hold events and / or parties .

• The launch of the new Murrysville Volunteer Program , which will serve as a clearinghouse to match potential volunteers with local nonprofit organizations , as well as Municipal Boards , Commissions , and Committees .

The Municipality of Murrysville is fortunate to have a professional , dedicated staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers

to serve the community . We thank all the Murrysville service organizations and churches who continually provide for others . Without their generous outpouring , many needs would not be met .

All 22,000 of you in Murrysville are extremely fortunate to have a 21-officer state-accredited police force , three ( 3 ) well-trained , dedicated volunteer fire departments , and fully-staffed medic service , providing in total one of the best emergency management services units in Southwestern Pennsylvania . On your behalf , the Municipality maintains 154 miles of roads and over 1,400 acres of Park and Conservation land . We are also very proud of our two school systems : Mother of Sorrows , a private Catholic school for grades K-8 , and a top ten public school , Franklin Regional , for grades K-12 , with strong programs in academics , the arts , and championship sports !
