SECOND ANNUAL “ TALES UNDER THE TREES ” – A WEEKEND OF STORYTELLING ACTIVITIES
Monroeville Public Library StoryShare Guild will present a weekend of storytelling events , featuring the internationally renowned , award-winning storyteller , educator and author Dr . Kevin Cordi on Saturday , May 20 , from 1 to 5:30 p . m . at the beautiful Tall Trees Amphitheater in Monroeville Community Park .
Dr . Cordi will be joined by five regional storytellers for a free family-friendly event . Regional tellers include Lisa Hollingsworth , Mike Kennelly , Kate McConnell , Michael Perry , Mary Jo Sontag and John Sur .
“ The Unfolding Life of Houdini ,” Cordi ’ s latest exciting work , will be presented in an evening concert ( date TBA ). The weekend will continue the following day when Cordi will be joined by his wife , Barbara Allen , as they conduct a storytelling and improvisation workshop from 11 a . m . to 4 p . m . The cost of the workshop is $ 100 and includes lunch .

MONROEVILLE CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN INSTALLS NEW PASTOR AND ORDAINS NEW MINISTER
Following a search that spanned a year and a half , the Monroeville Church of the Brethren recently installed a new pastor and celebrated the ordination of a member of the congregation .
Pastor Dan Ishman was installed during a service by the Western Pennsylvania District
Executive and minister Ronald Beachley , following Sunday morning worship . Then , after a congregational luncheon , congregation member and administrative assistant Cheryl Marszalek was ordained by the District ’ s Pastor and Parish Committee .
Pastor Dan , a member of the Center Hills congregation in Armstrong County , filled the pulpit many Sundays during the church ’ s search , while he completed his studies for ordination . He and his wife , Angie , have five children- Damian , who is married to Sarah Thomson , Kia , Emma , Matthew and Nathan . This past summer , the family welcomed their first grandchild , Danica . Pastor Dan is the proprietor of Ishman Construction and Remodeling in Freeport .

Johnstown area , has been a member of the Monroeville congregation since 1995 . She and her husband , Jack , reside in Wilmerding . She has two children , three grandchildren and one great-grandchild . Marszalek is also an LPN .
Located at 481 Center Rd . in Monroeville , the church has been on its corner since 1954 . Sunday School classes for all age groups- early childhood , primary , youth and adult- are held at 10 a . m . and a traditional , yet low-key worship service begins at 11 a . m . Childcare for children ages six weeks through five-years-old is available during the worship service . On weekdays , the church ’ s education wing is home to the local Head Start preschool program .

SILVERT NAMED 2016 ROCS CHAMBER MEMBER OF THE YEAR
The 2016 Monroeville Area Chamber ROCs Chamber Member of the Year award was presented to Mike Silvert of IN Community Magazines for his contributions to the chamber . Silvert serves on the Ambassador Committee and coordinates the chamber ’ s marketing efforts for IN Monroeville Magazine . He is a resident of Murrysville and an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Murrysville-Export . He retired from WPXI-TV in 2008 after 24 years in the advertising sales department , and has been with IN Community Magazines since 2009 .
