The village area, once commonly called Sturgeonville and incorporated as Fairview Borough from 1868 through 1997, is the largest settlement in Fairview Township. The Firefighters Historical Museum was founded in 1969 and moved into its present site in 1976. Operated by an all‑volunteer staff, the museum is located in old Erie Fire Department Station #4 and is dedicated to all firefighters who have risked and lost their lives while saving the lives and property of their fellow residents.
