McKeesport Area School District is pleased to announce Talent Search in our 6-12 buildings! T he Penn State Educational Talent Search Program, a federally-funded program through the U.S. Department of Education, was introduced at McKeesport Area School District in the fall of 2016, and intends to positively impact the students in grades 6-12. The grant which is responsible for funding this program will be up for renewal every five years, and looks forward to a long and prosperous relationship with McKeesport Area School District. Educational Talent Search is a college and career readiness program that strives to encourage students to graduate from high school on time and enroll in a post-secondary education program of any kind, such as a four year college, vocational school, certificate program, or community college. While new to McKeesport Area School District, Penn State Educational Talent Search has been operating in Pennsylvania schools for over twenty years. Experience has shown us that compared to peers not involved in the program, Educational Talent Search students are 30% more likely to graduate from high school, 25% more likely to attend college, and 2.4 times more likely to complete college. As a new program to the district, we would like to encourage you to enroll your child in the Educational Talent Sea rch Program and contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
