Students Place at Regional FBLA Conference
Seven members of Mars Area High School ’ s FBLA ( Future Business Leaders of America ) Chapter placed at the 2016-2017 FBLA Regional Leadership Conference , held on Dec . 14 at The Fez in Aliquippa , PA .
Sophomore Dustin Bauer took first place in the Financial Math competition . The team of seniors Zachary Kowalewski and Valerie Stapleton and junior Chase Reck earned first place in the Global Business event and the team of juniors Nick Dinderman , Ryan McGinnis and Kevin Soergel received first place in the Sports & Entertainment event .
All seven students qualified for the 2016-2017 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference , to be held Apr . 3 through 5 in Hershey , PA .

Students Perform With PMEA District Chorus
Five Mars Area High School students were selected by solo audition to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association ( PMEA ) District Chorus Festival , held Jan . 12 through 14 at Hickory High School in Hermitage , PA .
Students include senior Matthew Seipp ; juniors Alicia Fenton , Braeden Rawa and Alec Strawn ; and sophomore Mia Manuppelli . Julie Yu-Oppenheim , Kansas State University co-director of choral studies , served as guest conductor .

Several Mars Area chorus members were selected by solo audition to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association ( PMEA ) Junior High District 5 Chorus Festival , held on Friday , Jan . 20 , at Lakeview High School / Middle School in Stoneboro , PA .
Students include freshmen Dakota Boyle , Hailey Herrmann , Katherine Horrocks , Alyssa Machi and Griffin Miller ; eighth-graders Kaylee Bechtold , Daniel Hand , Anthony Scilla , Lauren Spindler and Jon Williams ; and seventhgrader Tori Speranza .
Stacy Paparone , Grove City College associate professor of music , served as conductor for the seventh / eighth grade choir , and Erich Lascek , Gateway High School music teacher , conducted the ninth grade choir .
