Eager and excited students and their instruments filled the auditorium stage of Greensburg Salem High School to present the 2016 Elementary Winter Band Concert . Over 100 of Greensburg Salem ’ s most musically talented elementary students , led by Elementary Instrumental Music Teacher and Band Director Mr . Steve Tribble , performed a variety of holiday selections for their families , friends , teachers and members of the GS community . The Level 1 ( 4th and 5th grade beginners ) and Level 2 ( returning and experienced 5th grade performers ) Metzgar , Nicely , and Hutchinson musicians entertained the crowd while showing off their impressive instrumental skills .

Proud leader Mr . Tribble reported , “ Our Winter Band Concert was a huge success and the first time many of our beginners have ever performed in front of a large audience . They may never learn as much in three months as they have starting a band instrument .

Both our beginning and second year bands performed very well and I am proud of them and their efforts . I am thankful to their families for giving them the opportunity to play a musical instrument and enjoy all that it brings to their lives .”

Mrs . Callas ’ Ensemble opened the 2016 Winter Choral Concert at GSMS .

Over 260 students in 6th , 7th , and 8th grades performed in the Winter Choral Concert under the direction of Mrs . Melanie Callas , Middle School Chorus Teacher just before the holiday break . Students spent all semester preparing for “ A Holiday to Remember ,” which included an evening performance for families and the community , as well as a school-day show for the entire school . Mrs . Callas ’ Ensemble group , which is comprised of 42 7th and 8th graders , opened the show with three Pentatonix songs- “ That ’ s Christmas To Me ,” featuring soloist Marisa Sharp , “ Mary , Did You Know ?” with soloists Jacob Gruss and Kevin Burkhardt , and “ Silent Night .” The 6th , 7th , and 8th Grade Chorus performance included singing , dancing , and special visits from some of the season ’ s classic characters , including Frosty , Santa and Mrs . Claus , Rudolph , and Santa ’ s elves . The selections of “ Happy Hanukah ,” “ Marshmallow World ,” and “ Happy Kwanzaa ” left the audience ready to celebrate the holiday !

Greensburg Salem Middle School Band and Music Technology teacher Jaime West and her band students presented their holiday concert just before the winter break . The event showcased the band as a whole , as well as individual instrument groups displaying their musical talents for their families and the GS community . The holiday selections were a great way to welcome the celebrations of the winter season !
