Nov. 10 is National Letter of Intent Signing Day—and three
Canon-McMillan High School students took part, committing to
attending—and playing for—Division 1 schools.

anonsburg’s Blessings in a Backpack program, in
cooperation with Canonsburg Mayor David H. Rhome and
the borough police department, recently packed food for
74 students in the Canon-McMillan
School District—food that will help
feed them over the weekend so they
can return to class ready to learn.
This is the fourth year the district
is partnering with the nonprofit,
which currently serves four CMSD
buildings—Cecil Elementary, Cecil
Intermediate, First Street Elementary,
and South Central Elementary.
Chyna Beck, who will attend Duquesne and play track and
field; Brittney Crawford, who will attend St. Francis and play soft
ball; Brendan Furman, who will attend Cornell and wrestle.
Congratulations to all!
The partnership between Blessings in a Backpack and the
Canonsburg mayor, police and fire departments, as well as the
local ambulance service, is expected to continue through 2017.
