State Rep. Brandon Neuman said that in
response to requests from Canonsburg’s
borough council, mayor and police chief, he
has begun efforts to dedicate a local bridge to
honor slain Canonsburg police officer Scott
Bashioum.
Central Avenue span would be named the
Officer Scott Bashioum Memorial Bridge.

Benedict the Abbot’s Pope Benedict
Center on Friday, Jan. 6, and Saturday,
Jan. 7, at 7:30 p.m.; 2 p.m. matinee

Bashioum, 52, was slain in the
early hours of Nov. 10 responding
to a domestic violence report along
Woodcrest Drive in the borough.
Bashioum was a seven-year veteran of
the Canonsburg police force and a 29year U.S. Air Force veteran. The alleged
shooter, who took his own life, also
killed Dalia Sabae, who was five months
pregnant.
Neuman and Canonsburg Police Chief
Al Coghill said the community also owes
showings will be held on Saturday, Jan.
7, and Sunday, Jan. 8. Tickets will be
available at the door. Proceeds from the
show’s bake sale will benefit Relay for
Life, and proceeds from the gift basket
raffle will benefit Crohn’s & Colitis
Foundation of America.
