SECOND ANNUAL SOUTHWESTERN PA SPECIAL NEEDS FAIR & EXPO ANNOUNCED
The 2nd Annual Southwestern Pennsylvania Special Needs Fair & Expo will take place on Saturday , April 29 , from 11 a . m . to 3 p . m ., at 50 Donati Road in Bethel Park .
The event , which is free and open to the public , is geared toward children and young adults with special needs and their family members , caregivers and guardians . It features both indoor and outdoor activities and will take place rain or shine .
“ We were blown away by the success of last year ’ s event ,” said Tom Kelton , event chair and certified special education teacher . “ We had over 80 vendors and 300 visitors last year and we expect even more this year .”
Some of the fair activities already planned for this year include performances by Angels of the Heart , opportunities to climb aboard various emergency vehicles , play time with therapy dogs , face painting , and more .
In addition to enjoying the activities presented by the Expo Committee , attendees are able to speak with professionals representing a wide range of services and obtain informational materials . Many of the vendors also have giveaways and activities planned .
“ I ’ ve been looking for several service providers and couldn ’ t locate anything on my own ,” said one of last year ’ s attendees . “ All the providers I was looking for were all there , in one place , at one time ! Not only did I find what I was looking for , but we also had a good time . Lots for the kids to do and lots of nice people to meet .”

MT . LEBANON JUNIOR WOMEN ’ S CLUB ANNOUNCES 2017 GALA EVENT , “ REACH FOR THE STARS ,” BENEFITING STRONG WOMEN , STRONG GIRLS
Mt . Lebanon Junior Women ’ s Club ( MLJWC ) will hold its 20th annual gala on March 4 . The gala will benefit the club ’ s major grant beneficiary , Strong Women , Strong Girls ( SWSG ) and will be held at the Charles J . Dougherty Ballroom ( Duquesne University ) at 7 p . m . It will be a dazzling night with silent auctions , luxury basket raffles , entertainment , and live music . Guests will also be treated to hors d ’ oeuvres and a threehour premium bar .
“ Not only is our annual gala always a fantastic evening , this year more than ever I cannot wait to stand behind our beneficiary , Strong Women , Strong Girls . We have the opportunity to help ignite change by focusing on those who are so very important but often overlooked : young girls in struggling communities . Giving those girls confidence , leadership skills , and strong mentors makes them game changers in their families , schools , and communities . The Mt . Lebanon Junior Women ’ s Club was founded in 1968 by 10 civic‐minded women . The club ’ s goal is to continue their legacy of giving back to the community through civic , philanthropic , and social activities . It focuses on supporting organizations that improve the lives of women and children . MLJWC is a dynamic group of women accomplished in career , family , and community involvement and includes about 80 members . Membership is open to women living in Mt . Lebanon and surrounding communities whose interests are consistent with the purpose of the organization .
NORTHWOOD ’ S HOCKEY MOM FOR NOVEMBER IS FROM SHAHA
Northwood Realty Services is proud to announce that its first monthly winner , for November , is from the South Hills Amateur Hockey Association ( SHAHA ) organization in Bethel Park and her name is Erin Henderson . She is the mother of Sasha , 15 , and Luke , 12 , both hockey players in SHAHA .
Henderson serves on the Board of Directors for SHAHA and has taken on the dubious task of being the scheduler for the past three years for the entire league consisting of 475 children .
She has also been the co-director of Girls Hockey for SHAHA and for the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League in the past . Her newest and strongest passion is being an advocate for the Pittsburgh Emperors program , which is designed specifically for children with such disabilities as Down
