Fairweather Drop-in The group, recently celebrating its 10 years anniversary, was set up to enable local Ethnic minority people to get together and socialise. Their emphasise is on the integration of Minority Ethnic seniors across East Renfrewshire to help them overcome social isolation often experienced within the community. Initially, they had only a handful of members who met in a small room. With support from funders and Voluntary Action the group has grown and now has in excess of 70 regular members, attending lunch clubs, yoga and walking groups, information sessions and educational trips. Alzheimer Scotland Alzheimer Scotland specialist dementia services provide personalised support designed around each individual. The local Dementia Advisors and 24 hour Dementia Helpline are always there for advice and information. Their services, from monthly dementia cafés to singing memories, are a great way to meet other people and benefit from mutual support. Through the activities and services offered “no one will face dementia alone.” Community Transport East Renfrewshire The project provides a medical appointments scheme to residents of East Renfrewshire who are unable to use public transport, with 931 single journeys to Medical Appointments from Dec 14 to March 15. East Ren residents continue to access medical appointments with volunteer drivers support, helping to reduce local ‘Do Not Attend’ statistic. Many attend the projects afternoon teas, shopping trips and outings supported by a team of 45 volunteers. “I can get out and about more and meet up with new people and some old friends” Afternoon Tea attendee
