LET'S GO
ΔΕΛΦΟΙ|DELPHI
the entrance and take a moment to admire the
panoramic view of the Delphic landscape and the
sea which looks as if you see it from an airplane!
• Walking on the main road, the Vassileos Pavlou
and Friderikis Street (King Paul and Queen
Frederika) you will discover that here beats the heart
of the place. You will come across folklore tourist
shops to browse through the folk and ancient-time
souvenirs, traditional guesthouses (many of which,
admittedly, seem stuck in the past), modern cafés,
tasteful restaurants and traditional taverns.
• On the upper side of the village, Apollonos Street,
which starts from the characteristic plane tree at
the entrance of the town, introduces us to another
aspect of Delphi. At the top stands the imposing
church of Saint Nicholas, patron saint of the town,
and here also lies the house of Angelos Sikelianos,
built on a hill towards the horizon! Finish your
walk and take in, as long as you are still here, the
magnificent view, the natural environment and the
local landscape with the picturesque alleys and
cobbled stairs.
