ICA Update

Pam ’ s senior year high school principal in the Los Angeles area , who kindly and no doubt with a hidden smile ( maybe even a chuckle ), suggested Pam ’ s path seemed to lead in directions other than the convent . Many of those in attendance remembered Sister John Dominic with great fondness from their days at ICA . Sister John Dominic ( 1921-2012 ) was a graduate of ICA from the class of 1939 ; she taught many students at ICA and was also the Alumnae Association moderator .
Pam ’ s speech resonated well beyond that afternoon ; many came away with the knowledge that all of us can make an impact on someone ’ s life and make a huge difference in their future , and it again reinforced the reach of the wide embrace of the Dominican Sisters .
This year we were blessed with students from various classes to represent ICA at the luncheon . Over fifteen student leaders welcomed guests under the direction of Chelsea Velasquez ‘ 17 . Leading the opening prayer and blessing was Natalie Batrez ‘ 19 . Vanessa Munoz ‘ 17 and Ximena Loeza ‘ 17 , shared the paths that led them each to ICA and how their ICA Cristo Rey experiences have buoyed them to become strong , confident young women , experiences that will carry them forward in their
lives as they look toward college and beyond .
We were very fortunate to have sponsors who believe in supporting ICA Cristo Rey and the innovative work study program for the event . The proceeds exceeded $ 50,000 and will directly benefit the students of ICA Cristo Rey . We wish to thank the following for their generous contributions .
