DUBAI STUDY TOUR The BBA Classroom Heads to Dubai Once a year Bachelor of Business Administration students have the chance to join a six-week Study Tour to another of Hult’s campuses across the world. The BBA classroom—including professors and students—packs up and relocates to offer students a unique chance to discover business and culture in another part of the world. This year 23 Bachelor students headed to Hult Dubai to take classes on local themes, ranging from language and culture to economics and commerce, offering students an insight into the Middle East. The trip allowed students to explore this multicultural hub, a city which is the gateway to the Middle East and home to both professionals and corporations from around the world. Study highlights of the trip included Arabic lessons and classes on doing business in the Middle East, and Islamic Finance. After class, students also had the chance to take part in a wide range of activities including attending Hult’s Executive Speaker Series with Ellis Watson, and trips to the Burj Khalifa, Ferrari World, and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Other top highlights included a desert safari, indoor skiing, a sky dive over Palm Island, and an exclusive yacht cruise—outdoor adventures, winter fun, extreme sports, and nautical glamour all in one trip. Energized from their time in Dubai, the students have returned to London with plenty of new memories, knowledge, and long-lasting friendships. After being in Dubai for six weeks everyone understood how the city worked and how we should behave when you do business. This knowledge will be very helpful as our future may lie in a country such as Dubai. Vasco Ramos Colaço, Portuguese, BBA Class of 2015 My participation in the Study Tour to Dubai taught me that learning does not only occur in the classroom. I learned so much about Middle Eastern culture, not in lectures, but by taking a hands-on approach to exploring Dubai and its surrounding areas, and discovering local attractions, activities, and events. The Study Tour boosted my cultural awareness and removed any misconceptions I had about foreign cultures. It provided a great opportunity to meet new people and create strong connections for the future. I left Dubai with new-found knowledge, amazing friendships, and a new impression of the Middle East. Deciding to join the Study Tour to Dubai was, hands down, one of the best decisions I have made in my life up to this point—second only to coming to London to study at Hult. On the Study Tour you head off with just over twenty strangers and you come back with a group of people you will remember for the rest of your life. The city is breathtaking and the amount of knowledge you will come home with is astounding. Classes on the beach, learning about the culture and language, plus the occasional island party really made this trip worthwhile.
