I don't have much of a green thumb. I love plants, I love flowers, but goodness it's hard for me to keep them alive. This year, Micah and I took a risk and decided to plant rose bushes in our yard. To my delight, these roses just love the spot we've planted them in. And to date, I've managed to avoid killing them, in fact, then are continuously thriving! One reason they thrive is because, as novice as I am when it comes to flowers and plants, there's one thing I do know. They need pruning. I have some fun little clippers that I take to them every few days, snipping off anything dead or dying, making way for the new blooms that are sure to come. As I look at these roses, I think of what a blessing pruning is in so many areas of our lives. Pruning may not feel great when it's happening. But without it, we have no room for new growth. Are there areas of your life that need some pruning so that you can thrive and bloom again? Perhaps a relationship that is toxic, perhaps a bad habit that has held you back from achieving your goals, perhaps a negative mindset that prevents you from seeing your true potential? One lesson I've learned is to be grateful for pruning. Don't prevent it. Get those clippers out and get rid of those things that are unproductive in your life. Imagine the rose bushes if they were never pruned, they wouldn't produce as many flowers or grow as well. The same thing will happen in your life if you don't take the time to do some pruning. As we enter the fall season, I challenge you to prune something in your life that you know isn't helping you or getting you closer to where you want to be. Make room for that new growth! "Pruning is the key to new growth." Thank you for checking out Hitch Fit Living! We welcome your comments and feedback.
