Here are some helpful tips for avoiding heat related illness: 1. Most importantly, stay hydrated. 2. Take frequent breaks from activities to drink fluids and cool off. 3. Wear a cool wet rag around the front of your neck. The carotid arteries are in the front of the neck so placing a cool rag here will help to cool the blood as it travels to the brain. 4. Wear light loose fitting clothing. 5. And once again STAY HYDRATED! These tips will help everyone to stay safe and healthy during these summer months. Just remember the most important thing which is to stay hydrated. As long as you do this you are on the right track for staying safe in the heat and enjoying your summer activities.
