As a trainer I’ve heard plenty excuses as to why an individual doesn’t exercise and the most common excuse I hear
is the lack of time. How do we find time in our day to do everything that we want to do? It’s simple, you have to
make the time in your day!
Life can be crazy and sometimes if feels as if the days start to run together, but the only way to get into the gym
is to be a little selfish and set aside that short time out of your day for you. You have to take care of yourself
before you can really provide the most towards anything else. You are the foundation to your life so make the time
and take care of you! By working out expending energy you gain energy and confidence in who you are. It makes
every aspect in your life better!
We’re never going to feel like we have enough time in the day. Time management is very important. Pick apart
your day, be honest with yourself and really evaluate how much time do you waste. People who smoke add up all
the smoke brakes, how much television do you watch each week? How much time do you spend eating out or
partying?
Start with small progressive daily actions. To get started all you really have to do is stimulate your muscles for 15
min when you wake up or before you go to bed each day. Do that 3 days in a row and you just got in 45 minutes
of exercise you wouldn’t have otherwise gotten in. While you’re not going to get mind blowing results with just 15
minutes a day, it is a great start! Some people go the route of home gym equipment. In my opinion home gyms are
nice but they promote procrastination. Most of the people I know with home exercise equipment rarely use it. “I
will get to it after dinner, after dishes, after the TV show. Now it’s late, I’ll just do it in the morning.” In reality it
never happens, most home equipment turns into a dust collector or a coat hanger. For this reason it is very
beneficial to hire a person such as myself. A personal trainer is a really good investment. Having that appointment
forces you into a program where you show up and get the job done. By having that trainer it ensures that you
eliminate all the excuses and get to the gym. Also, your time in the gym is spent efficiently, no distractions just
quality intensive training.
If you can’t afford a trainer the next best thing to do is to join a gym and take the time to actually show up. Online
personal training is an affordable option to look into so you have a plan of action to follow once you get there.
The act of going to the gym is very powerful because it stops procrastination. It isn’t until you actually get in the
car and drive to the gym that your mentality for working out is established. In that driving time you get hyped and
focused and while at the gym you’re able to feed off others energy levels in a productive state to fuel a great
workout and it simply becomes part of your habitual routine every day, just like brushing your teeth!
