Summer is here and that means longer days, pools opening, lake destination vacations, beach vacations, lots of on the go while kids are out of school. If you are prone to workout indoors, it is certainly the season to change things up, get creative and take those fitness routines outside. Below are some ideas depending on where you are headed this summer. Fitness by the Lake: - Swimming is, of course, a given! - Paddle boarding - Paddle boats - Kayaking - Canoeing - Skiing - Throwing rocks- talk about taking it back to our childhood, but surprisingly your shoulders will love you and if you can find heavy ones may as well squat while you're at it. - Fishing - Running hills - Lunging up hills and valleys - Safe rope swings Fitness in the Mountains: - Power walking - Pole hiking or regular hiking- you're gluten and hamstrings will be on fire! - Mountain biking - Mountain climbing - River rafting Fitness by the Pool: - Have races the length of the pool - Tread water with just your arms and then just your legs - Shallow end lunges and squats- the water resistance will make these fun - Submerged chest presses - Use a kick board for flutter kicks
