HEB ISD Education Foundation
Benjamin Franklin may have said it best when he said “An investment in knowledge pays the best
interest.” Among the many ideals we as Americans hold dear, our forefathers knew the importance
of education. Today, over 250-years after Mr. Franklin first said these words, the HEB ISD Education
Foundation is committed to investing in the educational experience so that all students may reap the
benefits of a solid education.
The mission of the Education Foundation is to raise and award private funds and community resources
to support the HEB ISD’s commitment to excellence in education. The Foundation, established in 1995,
is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, guided by a volunteer board of directors who have a sincere interest
in the success of our students and staff.
To date, the Foundation has raised and awarded more than $643,850 to our deserving HEB ISD
classrooms and campuses, funding a diverse array of needs identified by our educators. Recent grant
winners have included innovative initiatives like 3-D printers and tools, the HEB Chamber of Commerce’s
Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and programs to prevent suicides and bullying, build life-long music
learning, and foster engaged readers.
This overall success is only made possible through the generous donations of our contributors and the
HEB ISD Education Foundation is proud of the difference made in the classrooms throughout HEB ISD.
However, it is the individual success stories that truly bring to life the impact made on these students and
their education. Stories such as the one told by Leidy Guarin. Leidy tells her story in the attached article,
and it is a story that would have certainly brought a smile to Mr. Franklin’s face given his appreciation for
education as an investment in our future.
Together, all of us are making an investment in our future. If you are interested in learning more about
