Spotlight on Dawn Jordan-Wells, Board Member What is your favorite city that you have ever visited and why? I love Las Vegas because there is always something to do at any hour of the day and night. I also like to walk around and look at the lights as well as eat at the buffets. What’s something that amazes you? What schools did you attend? Harvard Elementary-Chicago, IL, Graves and Ford Road Elementary-Memphis, TN Dempster Junior High- Mount Prospect, IL James B. Conant High School- Hoffman Estates, IL Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL Can you share one quote or saying that you love, that keeps you going in life? I’m always amazed at the power of our words. Give us a brief bio of your career. I enlisted as an Airman First Class (E-3) in the Illinois Air National Guard in 1987 to help pay for college. I ended up staying for 20 years and retired as a Major (O-4) in 2007 from the Texas Air National Guard. After graduating from college with a degree in Human Resources Management, I worked for a small company and later worked for United Airlines which eventually led to a supervisory position in customer service at DFW Airport. I’ve always wanted to be a hotel manager. 24 I have been an active PTA volunteer and leader at the elementary, junior high and district level since my daughter started Kindergarten. I was appointed to the HEB ISD School Board in 2012, and was then elected to my current four-year term in 2013. I also volunteer for the City of Hurst as a HEB Teen Court Advisory Board member. My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and I am an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha
