A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Twenty-six years have gone by since my inaugural year as executive director of this regatta . Over the years the regatta has grown tremendously , both in number of athletes and sponsors , but one thing has never changed ; the regatta has always been and will always be a reunion for old friends to reconnect and a place to form new friendships . It ’ s these relationships that make the sport of rowing so unique .
As we celebrate the 52nd Head Of The Charles Regatta , I cherish all the many fond memories of working side by side with other passionate rowers who band together to help host this epic Regatta . It is this collaborative spirit that makes the event a success . I continue to marvel at the leadership provided by Katherine Kirk and the HOCR board of directors along with scores of other individuals who have dedicated decades of imagination and toil to running this race . I also want to commend my hardworking full-time staff : Tom Martin , our CFO , Mason Cox , assistant director and Brendan Mulvey , director of operations .
This year , we are excited to continue a somewhat new tradition – the Saturday night get together – which started two years ago as a celebration of the 50th Regatta and continued last year , with hundreds of athletes , families and friends joining together under the Attager Row Tent for drinks , hors d ’ oeuvres , and dancing . Join us this year again for Evening by the Charles , presented by Chloe Wine Collection .
BNY Mellon Investment Management returns in 2016 as our Presenting Sponsor and the official investment services partner of the Head Of The Charles Regatta . BNY Mellon , a passionate believer in the values taught by rowing , will also provide trophies for the fastest college crews in the Men ’ s and Women ’ s Championship Eights . Brooks Brothers , the Official Premium Apparel Sponsor of the HOCR , will again offer two retail shops along the river and will sell co-branded clothing that will be popular with all attendees . Its tents draw large crowds of students , parents and alumni all weekend long . New Balance , our Official Athletic Apparel and Footwear , will also have a retail shop at the FALS area .
