BUILDING SECURITY
All steps must be taken to ensure to the utmost that students not be placed in circumstances in
which they might be unlawfully taken from the school building. THE SCHOOL STAFF
MUST KNOW EXACTLY WHERE EACH STUDENT IS AT ALL TIMES, AND
HE/SHE MUST BE UNDER ASSIGNED TEACHER SUPERVISION THROUGHOUT
THE SCHOOL DAY.
Additional precautions to be taken for maximum security include the following:
Each member of this staff has the right and the responsibility to question strangers in the
building. You might comment to a stranger: ―Have you been to the main office?‖ ―May I
help you?‖ ―I am going in that direction and will show you the way, etc.‖
The Fycke Lane entrance and the Hawthorne Avenue entrance by the media center and the
Lucy Avenue entrance by the main lobby are the only ones which are to be used for entry
to the building. All other entrances will be locked from the outside. Every exterior door is
equipped with a panic bar for regular and emergency exiting. The Hawthorne Avenue and
Fycke Lane entrance is equipped with a card-key reader for entry by teachers and staff
only.
Please do not hold the door open for anyone to enter even if you know the person.
All visitors to our building are required to report to the main office, sign-in and
obtain a visitor pass.
While in the office, please be patient and wait your turn. Do not leave the office until the
secretary gives you permission to do so and you have obtained a pass.
