Which famous character is your alter ego? The Joker from The Dark Knight as played by Heath Ledger—I think I’d enjoy blowing things up as much as him! What would your alternate profession be? An actor. Name a person with whom you would trades lives for a day. The President of the United States—same reason as the alter ego! Which is the one area of your home you wouldn’t renovate, and why? I’d change everything. I get bored of things very quickly. 26 WRITER The London-based anthropologist specialises in contemporary Indian fashion, luxury, and sustainability. Which is the one area of your home you wouldn’t renovate, and why? My study. It’s an accretion of years of books and pictures, lovely in its own unique way. Artistic director of ShapeShift, a dance-theatre company based in Mumbai, Saple has choreographed and directed two original works, Unselfed (2012) and Moonfool (2014). This issue, he choreographs the slip dress revolution in ‘Spring Rebellion’ (pg 226). What is one thing you would change about yourself? My capacity for learning new skills. I’d love to super-size that and make it unageing! Which famous character is your alter ego? Moby Dick the whale—mad, majestic, untameable. What would your alternate profession be? Masseuse. Name a person with whom you would trades lives for a day. A woman. Any woman. Just to experience what it feels like. Which is the one area of your home you wouldn’t renovate, and why? There isn’t one! I’d keep renovating everything, again and again, over time. I love re-inventing and re-imagining spaces.
