Josiah Bunting III is president of the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation in New York City . Before taking up his duties at the foundation , he served as superintendent of his alma mater , the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington , Virginia . After his graduation from VMI , and commissioning in the U . S . Army , Mr . Bunting studied at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar , taking a degree in modern history . He subsequently served in the Ninth Infantry Division in Vietnam and as an assistant professor in history at West Point . After completing his military service in 1972 , he was appointed as professor of strategy at the Naval War College . Before returning to VMI he

David M . Kennedy , a native of Seattle , received his undergraduate education at Stanford University , and his graduate training at Yale . He is Professor of History Emeritus and founding Director of the Bill Lane Center for the American West at Stanford University , where he has taught for more than 40 years . Graduating seniors have four times elected him Class Day speaker and he has received the Dean ’ s Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Hoagland Prize for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching . His research has focused principally on 20th Century American history . He has been a visiting professor at Oxford University and the University of Florence , Italy , and has lectured on American history in more than a dozen countries . His most recent book , The Modern American Military , surveys
served as president of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and as headmaster of the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey . He is currently completing a biography of George C . Marshall , army chief of staff during World War II and secretary of state ( 1947 – 1949 ).

Michael S . Neiberg is a professor of history in the department of national security and strategy at the U . S . Army War College . He has also taught at the U . S . Air Force Academy and the University of Southern Mississippi . With backgrounds in social history , military history , French history and American history , Neiberg has published widely on the theme of war in the world , especially authored a series of critically acclaimed books on World War II , including the international bestseller , Lisbon : War in the Shadows of the City of Light , 1939-1945 . Over the years , Neill has served as an advisor to a number of political leaders providing expert insight on current affairs of Europe . As well as giving private and public seminars , he often appears on television news in the UK and around the world , and is a regular commentator in the international press , including The Wall Street Journal .

Inspired heavily by The Poetry of The Civil War , we will be presenting both published and amateur selections of poetry and songs . Dramatic readings that highlight important events during WWII will be selected and a narrator will moderate these readings , poetry and songs . This program will showcase the profound voices of soldiers and citizens amidst the turmoil of a world at war , and promises to deliver a stunning , inspiring and lasting impression on all who attend !

This book is the first to look at the Potsdam Conference since 1975 , and the first to look at it outside the Cold War context . Rather than simply repeat what the leaders of the Soviet Union , the United States and Great Britain said to one another during the conference , this book sees the world of 1945 , as the leaders themselves understood it .
