Getting those big reds to eat is easy when you find them. They are always hungry and aggressive. When fish are that aggressive, they’ll hit about anything we put in front of them. We throw jigs and topwater baits at them.” Also try dropping baits to deep structure. The bridge pilings and jetties can also hold good fish. Water near the jetties can drop off quickly. Some rock piles and o ther sunken structure just outside the pass also hold good fish. “As the water cools, many redfish move from the middle of the bay to the upper bays and rivers following mullet,” Peacher said. “The area around Bayou Chico in the northwest corner of Pensacola Bay is the best place to find big bulls in the winter.” Destin, Florida Although Destin hosts one of the largest offshore charter boat fleets in the United States, sportsmen can also find great action close to shore.
