Girl Scout
Bronze,
Silver and
Gold Awards
Girl Scouting’s highest awards are a way
for girls to make a lasting difference in their
communities and do their part to make the
world a better place. Earning these awards
teaches girls the value of giving back. They
also learn about teamwork, goal setting,
community networking and leadership –
skills they’ll use throughout their lives.

Junior Troop 36211 got their hands dirty
to spruce up the front entrance of Youngsville
Elementary School for their Bronze Award project.
With the help of local master gardener Celia
Knapp, the girls removed weeds and cleaned
up the bed, planted new low maintenance
plants and shrubs and added mulch. They also
plan to place a statue of an eagle, the school
mascot, in the bed as a finishing touch.

As a Cadette Girl Scout, Maria Vito of Bentleyville
knew she wanted to foster younger students’
love of art. For her project, she developed a team
of students to use study hall time to volunteer
in the art room, keeping supplies organized and
helping younger students finish their projects.
Because of her work, students are learning
how art is an important part of their education.
More students are also using the art room and
volunteering to help others.
