Course Development
WORK HAS BEGUN ON STRATHFIELD’S
NEW CLUBHOUSE
By Mathilda Andersson
The groundwork on Strathfield’s new clubhouse has commenced following the $52,5 million property
development deal the Sydney club signed with Queensland group Metro last year.
The restoration of the club’s long anticipated new clubhouse was launched on October 31, involving tree removal,
site fencing, removal of old underground fuel tanks and wash down bays.
Flemmings Contractors were appointed to carry out the works and they have anticipated completion within 12
weeks from commencement date, weather permitting.
According to the club, this should then allow for turf and seeding of greens to grow in during the warmer
weather.
Upon clubhouse completion, a new layout featuring front and back nines will both become accessible from the
new venue.
The construction begins only months after phase One of the $260 million dwelling project, Parvenu, was revealed
in mid July, which demonstrated 50 luxury townhouses and 178 apartments on the 20,200sq m Strathfield site.
The new clubhouse will include a range of upgraded facilities located in short proximity to the dwelling
development.
The club has vowed to keep 18 holes in play during the constructions period to the best of its abilities, but told
members it was likely the western side of the course would have to close for the four-five week period of truck
movements crossing the fairways.
This would entail playing the eastern side of the course as nine holes and playing them twice to get the full
18 holes.
Part of the construction plan is to also increase the total length of the course, which, according to the board, will
result in a much improved course layout.
“The Board believes that with these alterations we will have a better layout than was previously possible,” a
recent update to members stated.
